The first camera I ever owned was a Sony Handycam, 2005 edition. Back then, days were spent reenacting Jackass, climbing trees, and jumping off bridges capturing every wild adventure just the way teenagers do. Editing looked a lot different back then.

If you'd told that kid what he'd be building years later, he wouldn't have believed you.

It all started with a single shoot for a friend in June 2024. That one shoot changed everything. I left the stability of my career as a General Manager in the fitness industry to chase a dream that had been sitting quietly since childhood.

That background in fitness management gave me a perspective most people behind a camera don't have. I never just wanted to take photos, I wanted to understand the businesses we were capturing: how they made money, what actually moved the needle, and where their time was going.

2025 changed the game. We didn't just grow the business, we physically built it. Hand building the JL Purpose Media HQ in Glasgow was one of the hardest, most rewarding things I've ever done. It still stands today, not just as a studio, but as proof of what happens when you commit fully to a vision.

Since then, that vision has only grown. Our studio has expanded, we now work with clients across the globe, and closer to home, we've found real purpose in helping Scottish businesses and founders scale, giving them back the one thing they can never buy back, their time.

I never imagined I'd get to turn a childhood passion into a real brand, let alone build it alongside a mate, who’s become a part of the family.
